The story of the magical 2023 season of the Baltimore Orioles was released on Wednesday as a documentary called “101: The Story of the 2023 Baltimore Orioles,” premiered at Orioles.com and on YouTube.

The team teased the documentary last week with a trailer that featured players, coaches, team personnel and footage from one of the best seasons in Baltimore Orioles history.

Among the players that appear in the documentary are Danny Coulombe, Austin Hays, Aaron Hicks, James McCann, Ryan O'Hearn, and Tyler Wells.

The season was several years in the making. After five straight futile seasons, with the four full seasons featuring fewer than 60 wins, the hard work of rebuilding the franchise started to pay off in 2022 with an 83-win season. But, even with that breakthrough, the Orioles finished fourth in the competitive American League East.

But 2023 was magical. The Orioles won 101 games, their first 100-win games since 1980 under Earl Weaver. Orioles manager Brandon Hyde won AL Manager of the Year and general manager Mike Elias won MLB Executive of the Year. Both also appear in the documentary.

The team’s turnaround was fueled by the young players it has drafted and developed during its five losing seasons in a row.

One of them was third baseman Gunnar Henderson, who was named the American League’s Rookie of the Year after he batted .255 and hit 28 home runs. He also won a Silver Slugger at his position and was eighth in AL MVP voting.

Another young player, catcher Adley Rutschman, made the All-Star Game for the first time and was named the Silver Slugger at his position. Pitcher Kyle Bradish was an All-MLB Second-Team selection while Rutschman and reliever Félix Bautista were on the First Team.

Along with Rutschman and Bautista, outfielder Austin Hays and reliever Yennier Cano made the All-Star Team.
