Fernando Tatis Jr. Homers in Saturday's Victory
Your San Diego Padres came up huge in Saturday's match-up against the Arizona Diamondbacks. Without their superstar, Manny Machado, the Friars got their 11th win of the season, 5-3, and will look to take the series outright today.
Even though Manny was out, the offense did enough to score five runs on only six hits, and you could thank their other superstar, Fernando Tatis Jr., for that as he recorded his first home run since returning to the lineup.
That explosive bomb set the tone for the Padres on the offensive side, and they let Padres All-Star Joe Musgrove do his thing in his first start of the season. Musgrove went five innings, allowed seven hits, three earned runs, zero walks, and six strikeouts in 80 pitches in his season debut. Although he didn't look too sharp, Joe still picked up his first win on the heels of the offesne.
The Padres will be back at it today for an early 1:10 PM PT start. Friars ace Yu Darvish will be on the hill for San Diego, going up against relief pitcher Drey Jameson. San Diego will look to reach .500 once again and enjoy a day off tomorrow.
