Free agent left-handed pitcher Blake Snell is expected to leave the San Diego Padres this offseason despite him putting together an incredible 2023 season. Snell earned his second Cy Young Award this year, posting an ERA of 2.25 in the process.

He was virtually unhittable at different times throughout the season, and he is expected to earn a massive contract this winter. Snell has proven himself as one of the better pitchers in the game today, but the Padres remain committed to shedding salary this offseason.

There is no shortage of interest in the ace, but one MLB insider believes that the Seattle Mariners are the perfect landing spot for him. Joel Reuter of Bleacher Report has put the two parties together, and it does make a lot of sense.

"Snell was born in Seattle and has expressed interest in pitching for his hometown team, so it's a fit worth exploring for a Mariners team that fell just short of returning to the postseason in 2023.”

Per Joel Reuter of Bleacher Report

Snell returning to his hometown team would be special, and he would instantly become the ace of the staff. Seattle missed the postseason last year, so they may want to make a splash this offseason.

“The team's best approach to upgrading the offense might be to sign Snell and then flip one of their young, controllable starters for a young, controllable run-producer who can help Julio Rodríguez shoulder the load for the foreseeable future."

Per Joel Reuter of Bleacher Report

Seattle could use a pitcher just like Snell, and it would give them an added advantage in the American League. They need someone like him to lead this rotation forward, and the pairing seems like it could end up working out.
