Your San Diego Padres continue their winning ways against the Atlanta Braves this weekend. They earned their fifth win of the season on Saturday with a 4-1 victory.

The man on the hill for the Frairs, Michael Wacha, was lights out for San Diego and easily had his best start in this early season. Padres superstar outfielder Juan Soto also had his best game of the season, but that was no surprise considering who was on the mound for the Braves.

Braves starting right-hander Charlie Morton made his second start of the 2023 campaign, and Soto continued his dominance against the 39-year-old.

The 24-year-old came in hot and only got hotter against Morton. In Saturday's match, he went 2-3 against Morton (2-4 overall), drove in a run with a single in the first inning, solo homered to deep right-center, and struck out swinging in his last at-bat against Charlie.

Morton's two earned runs that he registered were all caused by Juan, who had his best game as a Padre this season. The lefty slugger has struggled through nine games this season, slashing .182/.325/.394 with a .719 OPS with two home runs and five RBIs in 33 ABs.

Soto has had a slow start, but hopefully, Saturday's game will help him turn it around. The outfielder is too talented to have a batting average below .200, and the Frairs must need him to play at an MVP level for them to be a dominant team. So far, they're treading above water and are tied for the best record in the NL West.

The run for NL MVP starts now for Soto; you heard it here first.
