Manny Machado Feels Padres Are Close to Becoming Best Team in MLB
The San Diego Padres have yet to live up to the hype they had going into this season. They sit third in the NL West and have not looked like the championship team we all expected them to be. Still, we're only a month into the season, and there is plenty of time to get it turned around.
The Padres aren't too worried about their play; as a matter of fact, they're confident they'll turn things around. Their superstar third baseman Manny Machado spoke to Padres insider Kevin Acee and told him they'd be a tough team to beat once they are more consistent.
“I think we’ve got to do a better job overall just winning games,” Machado said. “Just playing overall baseball — good defense, good pitching, little baseball, big baseball, whatever it is. Just play good baseball. We’ve been doing that all year. It’s just been inconsistent with one working one day, the other not working and just vice versa. Just putting it all together. If we can do that, we’re going to be the best team in baseball.”
The Padres have had some good stretches of baseball and some bad as well. They have yet to give us a good week, and it's been frustrating at times. This team is too talented to be this inconsistent all the time; they have all the tools to be the best team in the league, and that has yet to translate to the win-loss column.
Luckily, we still have over 120 games left and plenty of time to figure it out. Don't panic just yet, Padre fans.
