The 2023 San Diego Padres have high aspirations. They'll look to win their first-ever World Series championship this season, and they have as good a shot as anyone to make that happen.

However, the Padres are built to win past this season as well. Aside from Juan Soto, most of their vital players will be with the team past 2025. The star players are there, and the front office will continue to be aggressive, but will that be enough? MLB analyst Chris 'Mad Dog' Russo doesn't think so.

Russo was asked which team he thinks will have the most World Series appearances: The Braves or the Padres? Mad Dog went with the Braves because he has too many questions regarding the Friars.

"San Diego is an older team. Who knows what they're going to do with [Juan] Soto? [Yu] Darvish is 36 years of age from a starting pitching perspective. [Xander] Bogaerts isn't a spring chicken; he's 30 years old. Atlanta is built better long-term, a little better than San Diego is; I'll go Braves from that standpoint."

The concern is legit for Mad Dog, and the Padres could lose Soto in a couple of seasons and their closer Josh Hader and lefty ace Blake Snell in free agency after this season. The Friars got a good look at the Braves this season already and went 4-3 against Atlanta.

Both teams will be great for the rest of the decade, and we could see plenty of matchups that will dictate a World Series appearance between these two teams.

Both of these squads have championship aspirations, and the battle for who will go to more World Series' could start this season.
