MLB Insider Doubles Down on Yankees Interest In Juan Soto
The San Diego Padres made a blockbuster trade in the summer of 2022 to acquire multi-time All-Star, Silver Slugger, and World Series champion Juan Soto. It was a seismic trade that shifted the Padres into serious contenders. Although they have failed to make the Fall Classic, there's no doubt that time would come soon enough.
However, a year and a half later, Soto's time in Southern California seems to be winding down. The Padres will reportedly look to save money rather than spend it, which could result in the Friars trading Soto. If so, many suitors will line up to acquire the lefty slugger. And MLB insider Jon Heyman doubled down on the interest of the AL powerhouse New York Yankees.
“The Yankees are of course also interested in Juan Soto.”

The Yankees and Soto seem almost inevitable at this point. The Yankees were interested in him back in July during the trade deadline, and nothing has changed from then to now.
Soto is only 25 years old, and although many would still love to have him in San Diego, the right move for the Friars would be to trade him. The Yankees would get possibly the best version of Soto, which sucks for Friars fans.
Nonetheless, the Padres would be fine with the other stars they have on deck. On top of that, the haul the Yankees would give for Soto would be insane, considering his age and what they would be willing to give up for his talents.
It's more of a "when" than "if" it will happen, and we'll see when it occurs.
