New York Baseball Insider Reveals When Padres, Yankees Juan Soto Trade Will Happen
The San Diego Padres and New York Yankees are very close to finalizing a Juan Soto trade, according to numerous reports Wednesday morning from tons of insiders.
Following the Yankees' trade for Alex Verdugo late Tuesday night, New York and San Diego have been very active in discussions, and a deal seems imminent.
The exact package is not yet known, but insiders have expected at least four or five players to be going from New York to San Diego.
Just before 11:00 a.m. PT on Wednesday morning, SNY insider Andy Martino revealed a timeline for the Soto trade, saying there's a "decent chance" that a deal happens "within a few hours." He says the sides are just working on details.
Michael King and Drew Thorpe appear to be the top players that will come to San Diego in the deal, according to MLB Network insider Jon Morosi and many others.
This would be the beginning of a very solid haul for the Padres, who are giving up just one year of Soto before he hits unrestricted free agency.
At this point it seems like Soto is destined to be a Yankee, and the Padres will head into next season without one of the best young players in baseball β but with a restocked farm system.
