Shell-life in the MLB is very tough to determine at times. One season, a player can be comfortably on a squad and look like they will be there for most of their career. However, it just takes some down years of production and they then become a journey man getting cut by another team.

It looks like former Padres right-fielder Nomar Mazara is beginning to fall into this category. After an unsuccessful attempt to make the Baltimore Orioles' big league roster, he was cut from the squad and now will seek a role with a different organization.

His release was first shared on Twitter by the MLB's Mark Feinsand.

2022 was Mazara's lone season for the Friars and he appeared in 55 games for them. He recorded a slash line of .264/.316/.352 and would go on to sign a training camp deal with Orioles soon after.

Mazara has shown promise in the past when it comes slugging power, most notably during his first four seasons in the MLB with the Texas Rangers. He is still just 27-years-old and has time to turn his reputation around.

However, he will definitely have to take full advantage of his next opportunity because his Grapefruit League play with the Orioles wasn't too pretty. His slash line dropped to .231/.286/.308 and he looked pretty rusty coming in. It will be interesting what the market holds for the former Padre.
