Padres Fans Seen Wearing Paper Bags on Head as Disappointing Season Reaches New Lows
Entering the 2023 MLB season, the Padres were seen as one of the favorites to win the National League and possibly the World Series. After their impressive offseason, combined with the fact that they made it to the NLCS last season, many believed that the Padres were ready for that next step. But what has transpired has been anything but that.
San Diego currently sits in fourth place within the NL West, only a few games above the last place Colorado Rockies. It hasn't been pretty for the Padres and they are on the verge of having one of the biggest letdowns of a season in a long time. It's gotten so bad that Padre fans have started to wear the universal symbol for failure, paper bags on their heads.
Nobody saw this coming from this young, talented team. They have been unable to produce any sort of consistency on the field and it has led to them falling behind in the standings.
Their loaded lineup has produced poor results and the pitching staff has had to carry them. Mind you, entering the season, it was the pitching that was the biggest question mark for this team.
Star outfielder Juan Soto hasn't lived up to expectations since the team traded for him last trade deadline but you can't blame him solely. The entire team has been disappointing this season and it's been a frustrating year for players and fans alike.
Now, there is still time to turn things around but they need to do so quickly. Time is starting to run out for the Padres so the sooner they get it together, maybe they can go on a possible playoff quest.
