The San Diego Padres have had a rough start to their season, and one player who has particularly struggled is their young left-handed pitcher, Ryan Weathers. In his seventh start on Sunday, things didn't go well for him. He only managed to last 1.2 innings, giving up seven hits, five runs (four of which were earned), and two home runs. It was a forgettable performance, to say the least.

To be fair to Weathers, he has been in and out of the rotation, which makes it difficult for him to find a consistent rhythm. Despite his struggles, he remains confident in his abilities and isn't worried about his place on the team.

“I don’t think it’s necessarily back to the drawing board,” Weathers said. “Just got to refine. Just today, just simple command wasn’t there. … The stuff was the exact same as every other outing. The command wasn’t there today. So that’s a simple fix: Just command the baseball better.”

After a promising start to the season, the lefty has been going through a tough stretch, currently sporting a 5.09 ERA, 23 strikeouts, and a 1.53 WHIP. It's clear that things haven't been going Weathers' way. However, if he can secure a regular spot in the rotation, it might give him the opportunity to turn things around.

Overall, the Padres and Weathers are facing challenges early in the season, but there is still hope that with consistent playing time, Weathers can regain his form and contribute positively to the team.
