Padres' Insider Calls For Immediate Gary Sanchez Trade Amidst Catcher Issues
Just when things are starting to look at least a little better for your San Diego Padres, some form of reality hits and they look like the same disappointing team that kicked off 2023. It was only a few days ago that we were talking about this squad potentially pulling off an upset against the Yankees and turning their season around.
However, New York took advantage of some errors and bad decisions by the Friars and took home victories on Saturday and Sunday. Austin Nola pinch hitting late in Saturday's loss had fans fuming and praying a Luis Campusano return as soon as possible.
But we are only about two weeks into the eight weeks that Campusano is expected to miss with his left thumb surgery so what other options do the Padres have? I continue to believe that some sort of trade will be made sooner rather than later because Peter Seidler didn't hand out all those contracts to contend in a few years... he wants to right now.
Padres' expert Borna Nazari, creator of The Hog Watch, always keeps his opinions real after game conclude even if the team loses and he had a clear message for San Diego's front office after Nola failed to produce yet again.
Gary Sanchez, catcher for the New York Mets, is someone that has been linked to the Padres as of late and Nazari wants a move made for him very soon.
"Austin Nola, with all due respect to him," said Nazari. "I know he's not trying to be bad, is probably the worst hitter in baseball. This guy has one homer in over 100 at bat's, an OPS of not even .430. Gary Sanchez to the San Diego Padres... it is 110% worth taking the flyer on. He may hit for power, he will strike out, he won't defend well, but listen. Are the Padres getting any positives from the catching position right now besides slight sully defense?"(Via The Hog Watch)
Keep an eye on a big trade soon, Padres fans!
