The San Diego Padres have had a rocky start to the 2023 season, struggling with inconsistent offense and hit-or-miss starting pitching. However, amidst all the uncertainties, the Padres can find solace in their bullpen, which has been a shining constant.

Currently boasting the second-best ERA in the league, the bullpen has been a reliable force for the team. It's worth noting that they have achieved this success without the presence of their star reliever, right-handed flame thrower Robert Suarez.

Suarez, who hasn't pitched a single game this season, has been eagerly waiting for his return to the mound. According to Padres insider Dennis Lin, there's hope on the horizon as Suarez is set to throw a full bullpen session this Friday.

The 32-year-old has been sidelined since the 2022 playoffs due to arm stiffness and joint inflammation.

Suarez was outstanding for the Friars, prompting the team to reward him with a lucrative five-year, $46 million contract. Back then, it seemed like a brilliant signing, but given his prolonged absence, doubts have crept in. Nonetheless, there remains optimism that Suarez can make a comeback and contribute to an already formidable bullpen.

The Padres' bullpen has been a bright spot in an otherwise turbulent season, and the potential return of Suarez could elevate their performance even further. His fiery pitching and proven abilities would strengthen the team's relief efforts. As fans eagerly await his comeback, the hope is that Suarez can overcome his injury hurdles and make a significant impact on the team's success later in the season.
