Tied at 3-3 in the bottom of the tenth with the Colorado Rockies a rare extra innings mistake from a team leader ended up costing the Padres the game.

The normally sure-handed third basemen, Manny Machado, ended up making a fatal error by dropping the ball after applying the tag to the runner.

The Padres would end up loading the bases with one out left leaving Ryan McMahon to hit a sacrifice fly to walk it off in Colorado.

McMahon later commented about his walk-off saying he's glad the team got out of a sticky situation.

"Thank God it was the fastest guy in the league, possibly,” McMahon said of Doyle. “We battled that one out. Obviously got ourselves into a sticky situation in the 10th and got out of it with really good defense."

The Padres have an abysmal 0-10 record in extra-inning games this season and a not much better 6-18 record in one-run battles.

The Padres sit 5 games back from the last Wild Card spot with a 52-55 record and look to hopefully turn things around for the back half of the season.

With reports that the clubhouse does not want to be willing sellers for the upcoming trade deadline. Players may be brought in to help get San Diego over the hump and into a Wild Card spot.
