Padres News: Blake Snell Faces Tough Questions from Young Journalist

A heartwarming interview.

In the midst of wrapping up his second Cy Young award of his career, Blake Snell has had all the answers for addressing hitters at the plate in 2023. 

When it comes to the media, there are still some curveballs for the lefty to address, evidenced by a tough interview given to him sure to make you smile.

Snell's chipper attitude in this encounter is quite the stark contrast to his approach on the mound where he's been dominant all season long. 

Lowering his ERA to 2.33 with possibly just one start remaining, his competition in the NL Cy Young race has faltered at the finish line, making the award all but his to lose. 

Winning a second title as the best pitcher in the league would make Snell one of just seven pitchers in MLB history to take home the honor in both the AL and NL. 

Doing something unseen since Max Scherzer in 2017, Snell would join him, Gaylord Perry, Randy Johnson, Pedro Martinez, Roger Clemens and Roy Halladay in this illustrious club should he take home the trophy this year. 

All but poised to do so in 2023, Snell's last five starts have all gone six or seven innings, allowing just two runs in the process to lower his ERA from 2.60 to his current 2.33 mark that leads all of baseball. 

Taking care of division rivals in LA and Colorado, the latter of these starts had Snell take a no hitter through seven innings where the Padres would later walk off the Rockies thanks to Xander Bogaerts' home run. 

An individual trophy is all but guaranteed for Snell, but the team remains in contention for the final Wild Card spot with just weeks remaining in the season and a favorable schedule, meaning MLB's best arm could see postseason action if everything breaks right for San Diego.
