On Sunday, the San Diego Padres failed to complete the sweep of their division rivals Colorado Rockies, as they fell 5-4. The Padres bullpen allowed four runs in the eighth and ninth inning after holding a 3-1 lead prior to the late innings. Still, you'll take two out of three the way this season is going, and you'll take the exceptional pitching of Blake Snell, who was on the hill for the Friars on Sunday.

Snell made his 13th start of the season, and it was by far his best of the season. The southpaw got off to a slow start per usual in 2023, but as he's been doing lately, he's finding his stride come the summertime.

This time around, Snell has seemed to find it a little earlier in the season, as his last four starts have been pure gems. Padres radio host Sammy Levitt showed us just how dominant he's been as of late.

Snell's ERA was as high as five going into the month of May, but with some phenomenal starts, he's lowered that to a 3.78 ERA. Snell was his 2018 Cy Young self last night, as this was long overdue. The 30-year-old started the season on a sour note, failing to go deep into games and not being as sharp as usual. That seems to be behind him now, as he's pitching out of this world.

In his past four games, he's only allowed 12 hits in 24 innings, two earned runs, one home run, 10 walks, and 33 strikeouts. Padres righty Michael Wacha is looking good, and now so is Snell; if the others get on a groove, San Diego will be scary.

We're glad Snell found himself after a worrisome start to the season.
