The San Diego Padres dropped their 33rd game of the year on Tuesday, which came at the expense of one run on four hits. If you've been watching the Padres all season long, this isn't surprising but definitely disappointing.

The Padres have been as inconsistent as they come, and their last eight games have been a microcosm of their season. Padres skipper Bob Melvin knows it, and he couldn't help but express his frustration to Padres insider AJ Cassavell

“That’s what I would say is frustrating, as a team,” said Padres manager Bob Melvin. “Is that we play a good game, and then we don’t follow it up. We’ve talked often about: We’ve got to put together several good games in a row to get on a run and feel a little bit better about ourselves. We haven’t been able to play two in a row, really.”

In the Padres' last eight games, they've gone 4-4. They've averaged 7.5 runs and 10.2 hits in their wins while only allowing five runs. And in their losses, it's been the complete opposite; they've only recorded four runs and averaged 3.7 hits per game.

The Friars have not won a consectuive game since May 25 and 26 in their latest road trip. The hitting has been the real issue for the Friars as they can accumlate two consectuive good games and it's hurt them as of late.

It hasn't been fun watching this Padres team struggle as they've had, as we are still waiting for them to flip the switch this season.
