Padres News: Fernando Tatis Jr Believes Friars Will 'Win it All' in 2023
The San Diego Padres enter the 2023 season with extremely high hopes. After finishing second in the National League West last season, they ousted the 101-win New York Mets in the Wild Card round, and slayed the 111-win powerhouse Los Angeles Dodgers in the National League Division Series.
They ended up losing to the Philadelphia Phillies in the National League Championship Series, but the team got more than enough confidence from their deep run in the postseason — and this offseason, the front office only further jolted the team by signing four-time All-Star shortstop Xander Bogaerts to an 11-year, $280 million deal.
Bogaerts isn't the only big addition, as budding superstar Fernando Tatis Jr. is set to return in mid April, rounding out a roster that many feel to be the best in baseball.
At the Padres' FanFest this past weekend, Tatis was asked who he thought the team would face in the World Series. Here was his response:
"It doesn’t matter, because we’re still gonna win it all."
The Padres are as confident as any team entering 2023, and rightfully so. They feel like they finally have all the pieces to make a deep postseason run, as they try to win their first World Series in franchise history. It won't be easy, but the Padres definitely have the confidence to get it done.
