Coming in to last weekend's series with the Diamondbacks, Fernando Tatis Jr was in the midst of a stretch that looked very troublesome.

In his last six games before the weekend series, he only had 1 hit over his last 24 at-bats, and even more concerning, he was only batting .105 over his last 16 games.

But things seemed to turn around for him in Phoenix, and just like the Arizona summer, his bat started to heat up.

During the series, Tatis Jr went 5-13 at the plate and added a walk. The key to his recent success?

“I was just trying to be very picky with myself in this last series,” he said. “Just because the results … I was having — hitting the ball hard but still not having results. So just being very picky and just overseeing every single details. I feel that it helped a little bit.”

As Tatis said, it's not like he was swinging and missing a lot during his slump either. I mean, don't get me wrong, there were definitely some strikeouts, but it seemed like he would always find a way to hit the ball hard and it still found a way into a fielder's glove.

The team needs to find a way to start rattling off wins, and stay alive in the NL Wild Card race. If they don't find a way to at least make the playoffs, this might be seen as one of the most disappointing seasons in Padres history.

This different approach at the plate might be exactly what the doctor ordered, and although the Padres lost the series against the Diamondbacks, if their key players like Tatis can start producing again, the sky is the limit.

Do you think Tatis is fully back?
