The San Diego Padres got a big 10-1 win in Miami on Thursday, making amends for their 2-1 loss in the process.

The win was in large part due to a seven-run 6th inning where the Friars took control and put the game out of reach.

Under normal circumstances this would be a pretty significant win given the margin, but its a 10-1 victory in early June, far before the stretch run heats up and one coming in the dog days of summer and a win that would quickly be forgotten in the long road of the season.

But Padres star outfielder Fernando Tatis, Jr. made some personal history in that Thursday afternoon win, making that victory mean just a little bit more for Junior.

It was a 3-for-4 day with three two-baggers and four RBI for Tatis Jr., marking the first time in his MLB career that he'd gotten three doubles in a game, according to Kevin Acee of the San Diego Union Tribune.

It was a good sign for Tatis, as he's trying to become more consistent at the plate with Manny Machado still on the IL.

For the season, Tatis is hitting .253 with 9 homers and 23 RBI over 36 games as he makes his return to MLB following a rocky 2022 season that was marred by an injury and a steroid suspension that wiped out some of this season for the longtime Padre.

For now though, Fernando is back at work for the Padres as they try to get healthy and back in the NL West race.

As of this writing, the Padres sit 7.5 games behind the Los Angeles Dodgers for first place in the division, with plenty of time still remaining in the season for the Padres to fully right the ship.

A hot-hitting Tatis would definitely be a key component of that and if this is the start of a quality stretch, it would be a great sign for San Diego.
