Padres News: First Look at Xander Bogaerts in the Brown and Gold
The Friars made a huge splash this winter as they signed all-star free agent shortstop Xander Bogaerts.
Bogaerts signed an 11-year, $280 million contract with the Padres, and they are set to make some major noise in 2023.
The 30-year-old signed his deal in early December, and today, the Padres official Twitter account released Xander working out in his new threads.
Xander is rocking the gold Nike shorts, a brown long-sleeve with the San Diego and Nike logo, and the San Diego 2023 Spring Training cap.
I must admit, Bogaerts looks fresh in his new Padres gear.
The 30-year-old had spent ten years with the Boston Red Sox, where he was named an all-star four times, including the past two seasons. Bogaerts is a career .292 hitter with 156 home runs, 683 RBIs, .458 slugging, and .814 OPS.
The Aruba-born star is set to team up with Juan Soto, Manny Machado, and Fernando Tatis Jr to create one of the most electric and powerful big fours that the game of baseball has yet to see in recent memory.
They will bring new life to Petco Park that was non-existent until last season.
AJ Preller and company are doing whatever it takes to bring San Diego its first championship in franchise history, and this big four has a great shot at doing that.
We’re excited to see Bogaerts in Padres colors and see how much he can elevate the Friars.
