In this story:

New life has been brought to the San Diego Padres these past couple of weeks with the resurgence of Gary Sanchez in brown and gold and it's safe to say that his singing was one of the best decisions the Friars have made. He was by no means a superstar and he has not fixed every problem that the clubhouse was facing but his offensive production and IQ at the catcher position was much needed.

Through 12 games with the Friars in 2023, Sanchez has been able to garner some huge hits in key moments as he already has five homers, has punched his name into franchise history and is currently slashing .256/.304/.651 as San Diego has gone 7-5 ever since bringing him in. Austin Nola was definitely on thin ice with the franchise before this move and even though he carved out a solid outing in the Padres' Sunday loss to Colorado, Sanchez has clearly been the better option.

And the league is taking huge notice of his play in this new opportunity and how he has taken advantage of the role that team manager Bob Melvin has laid out for him and analyst Ben Verlander has placed Sanchez on his latest MLB team of the week.

".273 on the week with two homers, eight RBI's, and an OPS of 1.106," said Verlander. "Up to five homers next time... Padres legend."

We can definitely see why Sanchez has been receiving this type of love and he will be huge moving forward should the Padres want to continue this positive momentum. It is clear that SD has a lot to work on still but the Friars stars are beginning to come together and Sanchez just needs to keep thriving in his role.
