As we get closer to the start of the second half of the MLB season, the San Diego Padres find themselves trying to figure out where to go. The team currently sits 6.5 games back of the final National League wild card spot but they have started to play much better lately. Before the break, the team won five of six games and they still have all the talent on the roster.

The biggest question surrounding them is whether or not they will be buyers or sellers at the trade deadline in a few weeks. But the team has signaled that they will indeed be aggressive at the deadline and maybe even become buyers. However things can change quickly and a few weeks of bad or good baseball can have the front office thinking very differently.

"Rival GMs believe the Padres should unload starter Blake Snell and All-Star closer Josh Hader among others at the deadline, while also listening to offers for Juan Soto.. Yet, two GMs were informed that the Padres instead plan to be aggressive at the trade deadline and possibly even be buyers."

Per USA Today

San Diego just traded for Juan Soto last trade deadline and signed Xander Bogaerts this past offseason. And while the team has gotten off to a slow start, they have the talent to make up the ground.

In all honesty, it makes sense for the Padres to be buyers at the deadline regardless of their record. This team has invested too much money into this roster to give up on it so soon. The front office owes it to the players and fans to try and see this thing through, win or lose.

It would be a horrendous look for the organization if they gave up and sold players right now. The city of San Diego deserves more than that as the fans have packed Petco Park this season to see their team.

The results haven't been there yet but there is still time. If this is true about the Padres being buyers then good. Parity in baseball is a good thing and the Padres have done a good job at building themselves up into contenders over the last few years.
