Padres News: Jake Cronenworth Only Has Team Success in the Back of His Mind
To many people's surprise, the players on the San Diego Padres that have been making headlines following wins have not always been the stars. Yes, Xander Bogaerts has been electric so far and has been performing at an MVP-level. Manny Machado has also been able to drive in some important runs at the end of games.
However, the likes of Trent Grisham, Luis Campusano, and most recently, Jake Cronenworth have all been able to produce for the Friars and help them win some key matches. Cronenworth is coming off of a historic performance where he notched the most home runs and RBI's in his career on Saturday.
He certainly brought life to a San Diego squad that needs it right now. Nobody really understands why their offense is struggling so much with all of the firepower they've assembled. Fernando Tatis Jr. is performing well for the AAA squad right now but he's still about a week away from returning.
Nonetheless, the Padres still have enough talent to go around and Cronenworth decided he would be the one to step up if nobody else does. He's been with the franchise since 2020 and is looking to have his best campaign yet.
He spoke to The San Diego-Union Tribune and revealed that he takes pride in his preparation and is only looking to help his team win every time he's out there.
"You dive in, you try to find something that feels comfortable and relaxed,” said Cronenworth. “So when you get up to the plate you don’t have to think about your swing. You just go up there and compete. … No matter where you’re at in the season — you feel great and you haven’t gotten out in three days or you feel like crap — there’s always one thing you can do, and that’s go compete.”

We hope to see this mindset rub off on everybody else!
