Even though San Diego is very close to the border that separates the United States of America and Mexico, their environments are still very different. The Padres play at Petco Park whenever they are home and their elevation stands at about 16 feet.

However, they are playing at Estadio Alfred Harp Helu Stadium this weekend in Mexico City and the elevation there is over 7,000 feet. These are professional athletes that will be asked to perform at their highest level in an atmosphere they are nowhere used to playing in.

Now obviously, this does not take away anything from the experience and opportunity itself. Our Gaslamp Guys are going down in the history books after this weekend as they are helping bring the MLB to a part of the world that has never witnessed it live before. Their energy has been through the roof since our players touched down.

However, it seems like certain members of the Friars wanted to take extreme precautions before suiting up in Mexico City and one of those was Joe Musgrove.

The 30-year-old star pitcher actually touched base with his breathing coach to understand how he could still play well under this new situation.

"I've done a lot of the breathing stuff in the past so I'm kind of tapping back into that. I talked with my breath coach yesterday and he's given me some tips on how to kind of calibrate myself to the altitude as much as you can," said Musgrove. "Performance-wise I'm going to go out and pitch my game."

We cannot wait to see how he performs on this special trip.
