At the end of the day, baseball is a far different sport than any other. One player cannot do everything nor can they win a game all by themselves. However, what they can do is dominate their position and when Joe Musgrove has been healthy, he has done exactly that.

We just got to see Yu Darvish put together a Sunday outing against the Milwaukee Brewers where he pitched seven innings and only gave up four hits with one run. He himself had a longer delay than he would've liked to start the 2023 season but he's now finding his groove and a familiar face will be joining him very soon.

Everybody has been waiting for Joe Musgrove to return. When that news hit early into Spring Training that he had dropped a weight on his foot and would be indefinitely, the Padres community was in shambles. However, he has taken every possible step to miss as little games as possible and we've finally gotten a glimpse of him in the minor leagues.

He started for the Lake Elsinore Storm on Sunday and posted a stat line of eight strikeouts and six hits with four runs allowed. All of this came in just 59 pitches and Musgrove shared some exciting news following that game that he wants Padres fans to hear.

"I’m ready to go,” said Musgrove. “I feel like I would have been ready to go had I not injured my shoulder in my last start. This was a check-in, and I feel like with where my stuff was and how I felt later in the game, I feel ready to go.”

He also detailed how his injury was a sort blessing in disguise and he's been able to get his entire body healthy, not just the areas he injured.

“I got my core in a really good place. Really worked on the shoulder, did a lot of foot stuff with the toe. I feel like I made a lot of big strides while I was down. Obviously I want to be playing. I want to be contributing. There’s no worse feeling than sitting on the sideline and not being able to help. Frustrating but I feel like I took advantage of the time I had and the extra reps.”

We cannot wait to see him back in the brown and gold.
