Josh Hader has had a standout season for the San Diego Padres this year.

He rebounded from his issues of last year to again emerge as the best closer in the game, and the ERA of 0.90 speaks for itself when it comes to that.

The same can't be said for Hader's team as the Padres remain on the outside looking in at a playoff spot, sitting five games back as of Monday.

With the trade deadline coming up on Tuesday, the team that's full of stars but missing wins has a big decision to make whether to be buyers or sellers with the afternoon of August 1 approaching.

And the Padres star reliever, who's been the subject of a bevy of trade rumors over the past couple of weeks, made his desire known, while also conceding that it's not up to him whether he stays or goes.

“Like I always say, that’s out of my control. I’m not sure what the outlook for (the front office) is, but for me personally, we have a really good team and we’re playing good baseball. So we’ll see what they decide to do in the next couple days. … I love it here, I love this team and, yeah, I’d love to stay.” (via Dennis Lin of The Athletic)

San Diego still has somewhat of a chance to make it to the postseason, but will the prospect of a heavy return for one of the sport's best arms be too much for the Padres to pass up?

Like is the case for some teams around the league at this time of the year, it's a waiting game for the organization to make their final decision.

The team has played better of late as they've won four of their last five games. But with the Padres being on the trade deadline bubble, it's unknown which of San Diego's stars will still be in the city come Sunday.

But as far as Josh Hader's concerned, he still wants to call San Diego home for at least a little while longer.
