There is never any love lost between the San Diego Padres and Los Angeles Dodgers. Fans of the LA franchise have a funny habit of acting surprised whenever someone refers to the two teams as rivals. Well that all changed last postseason when the Friars barely crept into the first round and took down the Boys in Blue 3-1 despite them having a historic regular season.

Both of their rosters obviously hold some of the biggest names in baseball. Even though LA parted ways with the likes of Cody Bellinger and Trea Turner in past free agencies, they still have top-tier talent in Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman. Your Padres boast Manny Machado, Xander Bogaerts, and others just to name a few.

There is already enough tension between both clubhouses and the MLB world cannot wait for the two of them to match up for the first time in 2023 when May 5 rolls around. However, it appears Juan Soto already added fuel to that fire with his pregame comments when asked how he views LA.

"We’re not worrying about them. They should be worrying about us. I mean, we showed up last year. I mean, we showed them what we have in the playoffs. And we just came up, played good baseball and beat them. Now, we add more players, we have more depth in our lineup, our bullpen is great, I always say we have one of the best bullpens in the league. And I think they should be worrying about us, we aren’t worrying about anybody." (Via Bleacher Report)

Soto himself hasn't gotten off to the best of starts but he just had his best game where he plenty of success at the plate and addressed how the pitch clock has affected him.

It's still very early into the season but the Padres currently sit at 7-5 thus far while the Dodgers are 6-5. Both have seen their own fair of struggles and hopefully both sides clean up a bit by May so we can see a great series.
