Padres News: Juan Soto Not Resting Until He Conquers Slump
Majority of the MLB world looks at Juan Soto right now as someone that is solely worried about what his next contract will look like if he keeps up this level of play. Outside of drawing walks, he continues to struggle big-time at the plate as his slash line sits at .178/.339/.344 and he has just 16 hits in 116 plate appearances.
Analysts have been having a field day with his current situation as he was supposed to be helping lead the San Diego Padres to be a contender. However, they sit at just 13-13 on the year thus far and are looking quite mediocre. Soto has even been mentioned as trade bait for Shohei Ohtani by some experts.
However, Soto is not letting any of this break his mind. He was thrust into the spotlight at a young age and won his first World Series when he was just 20-years-old. Padres team manager Bob Melvin recently spoke on Soto's mindset revolving his batting slump and revealed that his superstar does not want any games off until he finds his rhythm.
“I talk to him all the time about it,” said Melvin. “He wants to work his way out of it. … Juan wants to swing his way out of this thing, and he feels like the best way to do that is playing these games, and I’m very confident and I appreciate that that’s how he feels.”

This is exactly the type of approach everybody wants to see him taking. When he turned down that massive extension from the Washington Nationals, he was betting on himself that he'd be able to come to a better environment and thrive.
This slow start should not change any of that for Soto.
