Padres superstar Juan Soto finished his 2023 campaign hot and reminded the baseball world just how talented he is.

The Dominican superstar recently answered who he modeled his swing after and one of his countrymen gave Soto quite the smooth swing to replicate.

"Definitely I would say my favorite hitter was Robinson Cano. He was one of the guys. I tried to always be smooth. Nice and smooth to the ball and that's the main thing for me. If you're smooth, you'll be able to hit anything. And that's the swing I always copied too. when I was growing up. My two-strike approach going knee down. That's just trying to use my legs as much as I can. And I feel like when I'm using my legs, that's where all my power comes out."

Soto definitely looked the part of a smooth operator as 2023 marked a new career high in home runs for the young superstar.

The slugger's efforts unfortunately came to no avail in respect to a playoff appearance, but off the field may be where Soto took his biggest victories.

Still just 24 years young, the left fielder is all but assured of breaking the contract market whenever he hits free agency or extends with the team he's on at the time.

San Diego's payroll situation could prohibit them from a significant contract offer and the former Nationals phenom may head to a new location either this offseason via trade or as a 2025 free agent.

Shohei Ohtani will receive significant offers this offseason as possibly the best free agent the sport has ever seen, but Soto won't lag far behind when such talks come up.

Robinson Cano must be smiling somewhere as the Padres' current Dominican legend in the making is carrying his legacy in spades.
