Padres News: Juan Soto's Latest Purchase Teasing Extension Coming Soon
When we watch Juan Soto step up to plate and slam a fastball 400 feet into the crowd or make a catch in the outfield that looks like it defies every law of physics known, it is so easy to forget that he's only been in the MLB for five seasons. The young Friars star carries himself as one of the most humble and mature players around the league.
I couldn't help but feel a little bad for Soto as seemingly everybody important on San Diego's squad got their well-deserved payday except for him. The most important guy that they needed to extend was Manny Machado and his wishes were granted in the form of $350 million. Did Soto pout or get jealous when this happened? No, he was nothing but proud of his teammate and was the first one to his celebratory press conference.
Many fans were speculating that Soto was watching the media session go down and thinking "This will be me up next." Headlines over the past month have been mainly about whether of not the Padres will sign Soto long-term.
Well it is looking like the star slugger may know something that we don't. Devine Sports Gospel has reported that Soto has allegedly purchased a new house in the city of Coronado, which is just 20 minutes away from San Diego.
"Sources close to the DSG have notified us that San Diego Padres Superstar Juan Soto has purchased a house in a gated community in Coronado.
To us, it seems like something someone who wants to spend the rest of their lives in San Diego would do.
Extension coming soon?

No details of the exact price of the house has come out yet nor has the report been confirmed by anybody within Soto's camp but a purchase like this definitely makes an extension much more likely. Not only would a new contract make financial sense with this but it also means that the Home Run Derby champion is looking to settle down in San Diego.
The price to acquire Soto last season was not cheap for the Friars as they got rid of a lot of their top prospects and young pitching talent in the process. I believe that he will play an enormous role in their plans for this season and they should hold onto him at all costs.
