The Padres are in the middle of a four-game series against the Arizona Diamondbacks in Phoenix. The Friars will look to get their 11th win of the season, but it will be without their superstar third baseman Manny Machado.

Machado told Padres' insider Kevin Acee that he's been experiencing some back tightness, possibly due to the turf in Chase Field.

“Stiff everywhere,” he said. “This turf sucks.”

“Just overall,” he said. “Just tight.”

However, Manny did provide some good news for Friar fans.

“I’m all right,” Machado said. “Getting better. You just try to stay off it as much as you can.”

The good thing is that this is nothing too serious, and that's always good news. Ha-Seong Kim will take over the hot corner in tonight's game.

Chase Field has been around for 25 years, and just four years ago, they installed turf synthetic turf on the field. According to the team, the move was strictly a business decision, as it saves a lot of electricity and creates less wear and tear on the system.

Business move or not, Manny isn't a fan of it, and you can't blame him. The turf talk is more of an NFL topic, as many players would rather play on natural glass, but I'm sure baseball players outside of Manny also feel the difference in the grass.

We hope Manny feels better and gets to the MVP level he's capable of playing like.
