Padres News: Manny Machado Reveals His Favorite Defensive Play of His Career so Far
San Diego Padres superstar Manny Machado is one of the best players in the league. Manny hits for power and is one of the better hitters in the majors. Even though his bat is phenomenal, his glove is as good or better.
Because of this, Machado earned himself MLB Network Top 100 honors, placing him as the fifth-best player going into the 2023 season.
Throughout his career, Machado has been in that hot corner, making web gems year after year. There is much to choose from when narrowing down his best defensive play.
Manny sat down with the MLB Network crew to discuss his ranking and expectations for next season. The crew posed the question to Manny as to what he believes is his best defensive play in his career.
The 30-year-old believes his best play came in right field rather than in third base, where he operates.
"For me, personally I like the catch that I made in right field over my head by the warning track in the shift, that's number one. But, I mean it was just a fly ball, so I think play wise it was just a lot better."
The crew couldn't believe that Manny didn't think his best play wasn't the one analyst Harold Reynolds had picked out.
The play Manny chose is incredible, but the one Reynolds picked out was insane. To bobble the ball, finally, control it, and as he's throwing it, he's leaning back and still made a clean throw to first is incredible to watch.
Manny had a fielding percentage of .966, had 217 assists, and turned 27 double plays.
The two-time gold glove winner will continue to make highlight plays and guide San Diego to many wins.
