Padres superstar Manny Machado has won the National League Player of the Week Award for the final week before the All-Star break.

Machado had an incredible week, hitting .478 with four home runs, 13 runs batted in and a 1.599 OPS. He helped lead the Padres to an impressive 5-1 week, ending their rough first half on a somewhat positive note.

For Machado, this is his eighth career Player of the Week Award, and fourth with the Padres. His last one was in August of 2022.

On the year, Machado is now hitting .261/.307/.458 with 15 home runs and 49 RBI. His .765 OPS would be his lowest since 2014, as he's had a down year up until this point. The superstar didn't make the All-Star team for the first time since 2019 (there was no All-Star Game in 2020).

However, Machado will now get a nice break this week, and the Padres will look to continue their momentum from the last week of the first half into the second half of the season.

The team sits at 43-47, 8.5 games back of the first-place Dodgers in the National League West. They're going to need to go on a run soon, and they'll need Machado and co. to continue to play like this.
