The 2023 season has not been too kind to the San Diego Padres. Entering this season, the Padres were widely regarded as one of the best teams in the league and a team that would be competing for a World Series championship.

The Friars would be lucky if they were a .500 team by the All-Star break. They currently sit at fourth place in the NL West, one game above last place, 8.5 games below the first spot Dodgers, and six games below .500. Things are looking bleak for San Diego, and if that's not enough, take a look at how bad the month of May has been for the brown and gold.

The Padres started the month hot, as they won their first three out of four games, including a big Friday night win against their division rival Dodgers. However, after that May 5th win, the Friars have been on a downward spiral.

San Diego has failed to win back-to-back games since May 5th and has yet to win a game since May 15th as of Sunday morning. It's remarkable how bad the Padres have been to start the season. Nothing seems to be going their way, and nothing seems to be working to get them back in the groove.

Will it ever end for the Friars? We're hoping it does, and everyone expects it to turn around for them. There's no way the Padres don't look like the championship team we all expect them to look like soon, right? Only time will tell.
