Padres News: Michael Wacha Reflects on Worst Performance of Season so far
Friday was just Michael Wacha's third game manning the pitching mound for the San Diego Padres and he put together one of the worst performances we've seen yet.
Wacha was brought in after a stellar season with the Boston Red Sox and his signing solidified what many thought to be a pretty solid six-man rotation. However, his latest outing against the Milwaukee Brewers adds to the growing problems within the Friars as their pitching is not up to par and they just cannot produce consistent offense either.
He lasted just four innings and gave up a season-high 11 hits and seven runs. Two of them were launched out of a sold-out Petco Park and San Diego went on to lose 11-2.
Wacha spoke to The San Diego-Union Tribune following their eighth loss of the season and share this thoughts on how he thought the game got away from him.
"Whenever I did make my pitch, they were able to take good swings on them,” Wacha said. “Whenever I did leave a mistake over the middle, they hit those as well. I don’t know if it’s predictability or just tipping or just too many balls over the plate. I have some stuff to work on heading into this next one.”
