The San Diego Padres' start to the season has been nothing short of disappointing. For a team that boasts superstar bats that have dominated the league for some time now, their struggles at the plate have left their fans and others in shock. Through the first two months of the season, the Padres find themselves among the worst-hitting teams in the league, a far cry from what was expected of them.

The Padres' hitting struggles have cast a shadow of uncertainty over their season, and MLB expert Matt Snyder believes that's all it'll take to turn their season around.

They need to hit better. That's it. For real. The Padres to this point have been one of the worst offensive teams in all of baseball. They are hitting .222 (last in the majors) with a .379 slugging percentage. The only teams scoring fewer runs per game are the Royals, A's, Guardians, Tigers and Marlins. They are striking out too much and just about the only thing they've done well so far is draw walks (thank you, Juan Soto). There's also situational hitting. The league slash with runners in scoring position is .254/.335/.414. The Padres are hitting an embarrassing .189/.289/.322 with runners in scoring position.

So, yes, they need to hit better. If things come together the way it looks like they can, the Padres could be due a hot streak like we saw from one of those four teams listed above last season.

Despite the bad start, there is still plenty of time for the Padres to turn things around. It is a long season, and we're only a quarter into the season. This team has the talent and the coaching expertise to bounce back and regain their offensive prowess.

There's no doubt it's frustrating to watch Padre baseball at the moment, but that's the game of baseball. It's full of ups and downs, and the Friars are having more downs right now. They'll figure it out and get more hits throughout the season.
