Padres News: Return to Friars an 'Easy Choice' for Jurickson Profar
The Padres signed Jurickson Profar soon after he was released by the Colorado Rockies, bringing back a fan favorite from 2020-22. As San Diego begins to rest veterans, instead of calling up prospects from the minor leagues and complicating their offseason plans, using rentals like Profar is a good way to run out the clock on what was a disappointing season.
For Profar, returning to his old team was an obvious decision.
“These are my brothers,” Profar said. “I’ve been with them for the past three years. I know what it is here. I know how they go about it already. I think it was an easy choice.”

Profar has certainly made the most of his second time around in San Diego. In two games with the Padres, Profar has hit 6-for-8 with a home run.
Given the wealth of talent on the San Diego roster, Profar said he was surprised at how much the Padres have struggled this season compared to their success last year.
“Yeah, that was a surprise,” Prfar said. “I think they have a better team than we had last year, and we went pretty far last year. I was expecting it to be way better this year.”

While the Padres' dugout is likely disappointed at their rapidly decreasing odds at a playoff run, the addition of a familiar face is certainly a welcomed one.
“I love that guy,” Fernando Tatis Jr. said recently. “One of the best teammates I’ve ever had.”
