In this story:

Rich Hill was acquired by the Padres alongside Ji-Man Choi from the pirates at the Friars look to compete for a Wild Card spot in this years playoffs.

Both pieces would add some veteran experience and some hopeful consist play, especially from Hill.

In the midst of injuries to players like Joe Musgrove the team would have to rely more heavily on somebody like Rich Hill.

Unfortunately that reliance has not benefited either piece, Rich Hill in two starts with the team has given up 9 earned runs in just 6.1 innings pitched.

Getting blown up by the Dodgers who are 10-1 in August is a sour yet not crazy outcome, but, getting hit around by the Diamondbacks who have been abysmal since the break, this being their first win since August 1st, is a different story.

The veteran knows what he can do and knows he is in a bad place and must get out.

Sitting at 56-61 the Padres are currently 5 games behind the last Wild Card spot for the National League. While this is a tall task for the team out of Petco to overcome it is not impossible simply because the remaining games of the season are against the very teams competing for that spot.

Scheduled to play 18 more games across teams like the Diamondbacks, Phillies, Giants, and Marlins this team out of Petco can correct their path and end up in the postseason.

All it takes is a little adjustment from their veterans and players getting healthy and this team can end up playing some October baseball.
