Your San Diego Padres are not done with their payroll quite yet after an active couple of weeks, most notably marking the end of the Manny Machado contract negation era. They have now agreed to a minor league deal with Rougned Odor and will give him the opportunity to showcase his skills and potentially crack the main roster.

The deal was first reported by MLB Insider Jon Heyman.

Odor is 29-years-old and has a lot of experience in the league having played since 2014. He last suited up for the Baltimore Orioles and despite a down season in most major statistics, he developed a trend of performing in clutch situations for the team.

Prior to Odor's arrival in Baltimore, he inked a $50 million contract with the Texas Rangers. But, after flaming out with the Rangers, he signed an MLB minimum deal with the Orioles last season.

This is a low-risk signing for the Padres as he will be on a similar, smaller deal and they just want to see if he steps to up the challenge.

Star Manny Machado made it known that he worked closely with San Diego's front office to ensure that his extension allowed the team to still add talent that would help them fight for a World Series. While the addition of Odor does tip every odd in their favor, he can contribute to winning if he is unlocked in Petco Park.
