In Bleacher Report's latest MLB power rankings, the ballclub playing in Petco has dropped out of the upper half of the teams.

Falling from 14th to 20th, the team out of the NL West continues to disappoint.

They had a poor 3-7 record over the team's last 10 game,s including a series loss to the Arizona Diamondbacks, one of the teams right in front of the Padres challenging for a Wild Card spot.

The team has been playing below .500 baseball since the All-Star break and just can't seem to put it together.

The three-headed monster in Fernando Tatis Jr., Manny Machado, and Juan Soto have all been shells of themselves this month. The three players combined are hitting an abysmal .207 average with 32 strikeouts and just 10 walks.

The stars in this lineup are not performing and an injury-riddled starting rotation has attributed to the disappointing season out of San Diego.

Is there any bright side?

The bright side is that this team is only 5.5 games behind the last Wild Card spot and two teams in front of them, the Cincinnati Reds and Arizona Diamondbacks, are also having poor recent stretches.

Combining slumping teams and a favorable schedule to close out the year, the Padres are a couple good weeks away from holding that Wild Card spot after 162 games are finished.

With the returns to the rotation of Michael Wacha and Joe Musgrove, the biggest need for the Friars is getting fixed in-house.

If the proven stars in this lineup step up to the plate and put together good at-bats this team can reach their goal of playing baseball in October.
