It has not been the most ideal couple of days for the San Diego Padres. They've been super inconsistent and have been able to string together both good pitching and good hitting in the same game.

They are about to welcome two massive pieces to their family back in Joe Musgrove and Fernando Tatis Jr. but they've had more than enough talent to avoid a start to the season like this. Many people are solely looking at Tatis to be slugger that saves their offense but it has to be remembered that he hasn't played in an official MLB regular season game since 2021.

For all of these reasons, the Padres find themselves slowly dropping in the power rankings of the MLB. There hasn't been a ton of games just yet but there is now enough where the reputations of players can only propel so high and now production speaks a lot louder.

"Fernando Tatis Jr. is eligible to rejoin the Padres on Thursday. His return can't come soon enough for a team that was shut out twice last week and ranks 26th in the majors with a .231 batting average. San Diego finished 2-5 last week in a tough draw against the Mets and Brewers." (Via Bleacher Report)

This is just another form of motivation for the Friars to get things going.
