In this story:

Trent Grisham has been a member of the San Diego Padres since the 2020 season. He's had a lot of up-and-downs since joining the franchise but 2022 served as a very forgettable time for the 26-year-old.

Grisham struck out in 38% of his plate appearances and his .184 batting average was the worst in the entire league. There was a lot for him to reflect on coming into 2023 and considering all of the star power coming in, Grisham had the opportunity to serve as a glue guy.

However, despite it still being early into the year, the Padres right-fielder has already seen vast improvement specifically when it comes to his slugging.

"In 2022, Trent Grisham took 47 games to hit his 3rd home run of the season."

"He’s now hit 3 in his first 10 games of 2023."

The thing that makes Grisham special is that even through his past struggles when stepping up to bat, he still shined on defense. He won his second Gold Glove of his career last season and held it down in the outfield.

But it looks like he's finally putting together all components of his game and it's at the perfect time. San Diego's stars, outside of Xander Bogaerts, haven't found their rhythm at the plate just yet so it's even more important when players like Grisham and even Ha-Seong Kim are getting consistent hits.

The Padres look to win yet another series against the New York Mets in their first rematch since the wild card series.
