Padres News: With First 4 Game Win Streak in 2023, Juan Soto is Keeping a Sliver of Playoff Faith
As the MLB season winds down here, the San Diego Padres find themselves still alive for a potential playoff spot. They have been battling back all year long, and it has caused much frustration in the clubhouse.
The team has seen a wildly inconsistent offense plague them all season, and it has forced them to be playing catch-up. But with only a few weeks left in the season, San Diego may have finally figured some things out. Over this past week, the Padres finally put together their first four-game winning streak of the season behind two series wins.
They are keeping a sliver of hope alive for a potential playoff run, and doing so as a team. There hasn’t been any quit in this team all season, even when things seem bleak at best. So they are just going out there, and doing their jobs while hoping for the best.
“Just keep grinding,” Soto said. “… Forget about the records, forget about the numbers, forget about everything. Just go out there and perform. That’s the only thing we can control right now. Play every day. Play hard and see what happens.”

San Diego still has an uphill climb ahead of them, but they have put themselves into a much better situation. They would need to continue playing strong baseball and get some help from the multiple teams in front of them in the standings.
However, they aren't counting themselves out, and will just go with the flow of what happens. Shortstop Xander Bogaerts explained the thinking of the Friars perfectly, as they head into the final two weeks of the year.
“You never know,” Bogaerts said.

If they are able to make a complete comeback, it would be one of the most insane things to happen in the sport in recent memory. It won't be easy, but nothing has come easy for San Diego in 2023.
