Anyone, including Fansided's Kristen Wong, who assumes that Xander Bogaerts regrets signing with San Diego after 10 seasons with the Boston Red Sox is doing nothing but speculating. Bogaerts has said nothing of the sort.

The quote that has circulated around Padres and national media certainly suggests that Bogaerts is frustrated. And who wouldn't be? The Padres are 6-4 in their last 10 games with their latest embarrassment coming at the hands of the Washington Nationals, who bested them 2-1 in a 3 game series last weekend.

"C'mon man. We're playing the Nationals. I don't think they have playoff aspirations. I mean, they obviously have a young team and they fight," Bogaerts said in a postgame media scrum. "But I wouldn't say anyone picked the Nationals to be in the playoffs. So you have to beat the teams that you have to beat."

The Padres are one of the biggest disappointments in the major leagues this season. They were among the favorites to win the World Series and have flopped since losing on Opening Day to the Rockies.

Sitting 6.5 games back in the NL Wild Card race, the Padres need to kick it into high gear and start winning if they expect to make it into the postseason.

To suggest Bogaerts to regret signing with his current team requires much more evidence than the information available to the media. The shortstop is making $280 million over 11 years, lives in Southern California and plays for a team that, regardless of a slow start, is still capable of reaching the postseason.

With Boston, Bogaerts was a champion, and he very likely still has love for a team that introduced him to Major League Baseball. But Bogaerts made his decision, and unless he demands a trade, we have to assume that he is all-in on this Padres squad.
