Padres News: Xander Bogaerts Believes Friday was Friars' 1st Poor Loss
Xander Bogaerts has been nothing short of a star in San Diego so far. In his first year with the team, you would expect there to be some sort of adjustment period or maybe some games where things aren't quite going his way as he gets used to everything that comes with a new franchise. We've seen it happen with the likes of Juan Soto in 2022 and even Manny Machado a couple of years back.
Bogaerts leads the Friars in majority of major batting statistics with a batting average of .333, 14 runs created, 10 RBI's and four home runs. He has been their best form of offense but unfortunately hasn't received much help from anybody else.
Their most recent loss came on Friday against the Milwaukee Brewers. San Diego was coming off of a disappointing series against the New York Mets and were certainly looking to bounce back. However, only nine hits and two runs led to an 11-2 loss, one that Bogaerts referred to as their worst one yet.
"It’s a long season, a very long season,” Bogaerts said. “You’re going to have games like this, days like this. You just hope there’s not too many. … For the most part, we (have been) one pitch away from tying or one pitch away from putting the tying run on deck (in previous losses). This is the first tough, lopsided loss."

X-Man has been in the league since 2013 and knows exactly what the road looks like to win a World Series. He captured one immediately in his rookie season with the Boston Red Sox and ran it back in 2018 for another one.
Prior to the season, the Friars were an overwhelming favorite by many to win but their start has not been super promising. I see Bogaerts continuing his play but he'll need the other stars to step up as well in order to capture that third ring.
