The San Diego Padres could be something special this season. How their 2022 season ended gave fans and the team hopes for the next season and what they can accomplish.

The Padres have everything you need in order to capture a World Series title, including multiple star players. One of those star players will enter his first season as a Padre infielder Xander Bogaerts. Bogaerts sat down with Bally Sports San Diego to discuss his home country, postseason success, and his expectations for the 2023 season. The 30-year-old said he believes this San Diego team has everything it needs to win the franchise's first title.

"We know we have a lot of really, really talented players on this team. We have some of the best players in this game. Everyone has to check their egos at the door and have to go for the same goal. We all want to win, and we all know what it takes to win."

The four-time All-Star signed an 11-year, $280 million contract with the Friars. He will join the likes of Manny Machado, Juan Soto, and Fernando Tatis Jr, to name a few, in this stacked Padres lineup. On paper, this lineup will be a force to be reckoned with extraordinary talent and intimidating players.

The talent is off the charts, but that could only take you so far. The two-time World Series champion knows what it takes to achieve the ultimate goal and will do all he can to spread that knowledge. Soto got himself a ring as a member of the Washington Nationals, while Machado and Tatis Jr are still seeking their first title.

Even though Bogaerts and Soto have themselves a title, it will mean a lot much more to win it on this team. It will also be a failure if they cannot reach that goal. The pieces are there; they must execute and leave those egos at the door.
