Padres shortstop Xander Bogaerts is fitting right in with his new squad. Bogaerts is off to a fantastic start for your Friars and is leading the team in almost every major offensive category. He's propelled them to most of their wins, and that is why they're only one game under .500.

Bogaerts signed some big money this past offseason and is showing why he deserved every penny. On Thursday, he continued a streak that started last season, and Padre fans should hope it never ends.

Bogaerts was 0-for-3 but extended his on-base streak to 29 games with a walk yesterday. The run, which includes the final two games of last season, is the longest active streak in the major leagues. Yesterday was just the fifth game this season in which Bogaerts did not get at least one hit.

The 30-year-old All-Star is leading the team in on-base percentage at .409. The second closest on the team, believe it or not, is Juan Soto, with his at .345.

It seems like Xander loves the new bases, and the feeling is mutual. So far, through the 2023 season, Bogaerts is averaging .316 with a .919 OPS, five home runs, and 12 RBIs in 27 games and 98 ABs.

Hall of Famer Ted Williams holds the record for consecutive games of getting on base at 84. We're not sure how long Xander could keep it up, but we hope he gives Williams a run for his money.
