The San Diego Padres are again proving they'll do whatever it takes to win. On Thursday, they agreed to a massive six-year extension with RHP Yu Darvish, that will keep him in San Diego through the 2028 season. The extension is worth $108 million, and was reported by AJ Cassavell, among others.

Darvish is among several Padres veterans set to hit free agency next offseason. Locking up the five-time All-Star now gives the front office some stability in the starting rotation for next season when the club is set to lose LHP Blake Snell.

Yu is entering his third year with the Friars in 2023. He was among the NL leaders in innings (194.2) and whip last season (.950) while posting a 3.10 ERA. The deal will take him into his age 42 season. San Diego also has RHP Joe Musgrove locked up through 2027.

We will continue to update this story on this massive extension for Darvish and the Padres.
