According to MLB insider Jon Heyman, Padres general manager AJ Preller and manager Bob Melvin did not communicate throughout the 2023 season and Melvin is reportedly a candidate for both the San Francisco and New York Mets jobs. The Padres said after the season that Melvin would remain on their staff.
In other news, Padres stars Fernando Tatis Jr. and Ha-Seong Kim were named finalists for the Gold Glove Award.
